Enjoying the little things

Wednesday, 28th of October, 8:00pm.

I find myself, like many others at this time of year, wondering where the year has gone while also looking forward to the Christmas break. It has been a big year for me, and without a doubt one of my favourite years in recent memory. It's been a year where I've taken control of what I want to do with my life and taken a leap of faith by starting Lumen & Lace. What an extraordinary, challenging, and wonderfully stressful journey it has been.

Like many small business owners, you quickly discover there is no real structure. It is what you make it, and success depends on your own contribution, determination, and willingness to put yourself out there. That can be scary, but it's also incredibly thrilling. Simply by asking, reaching out, and taking chances, I've opened more doors for myself than I ever imagined possible when I started back in January.

Recently, I visited a local winery. Considering I live in a town famous for its wine, it's a little strange that I'd never actually visited one before. It was absolutely beautiful and a great reminder to slow down and appreciate what's right on our doorstep.

I also have some really exciting projects coming up. Lately, I've been loving concert photography. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy every aspect of photography and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who chooses to support my business, but there's something uniquely exciting about capturing live performances. Perhaps it's my passion for theatre, or maybe it's my background in dance, but there is an energy and atmosphere at concerts that I find impossible not to love.

As the year begins to wind down, I'm trying to spend more time appreciating the little things. The quiet moments, new opportunities, beautiful places, and the people who continue to support me along the way. Sometimes it's those simple moments that end up meaning the most.
